Pictures from Czech Republic

Hi there! 😉 Here is my gallery about the Czech Republic.

Of course if we talk about Czech Republic we can’t miss to mention Prague, its capital and one of the most beautiful city in Europe.

Here is the castle

But Czech Republic is not only Prague, actually the real country’s atmosphere and soul is everywhere but in Prague…

For instance already in Brno (the second biggest city in CR), you can understand much more about local culture, lifestyle and so on…

Brno is an active city, with many students and a growing international community, which is very much integrated with the local society.

An international firework competition has been held annually every year at the turn of May and June – Ignis Brunensis with 100,000-200,000 visitors a year.

The most interesting places in Brno are the Brno Underground, a labyrinth of cellars including the second biggest ossuary in Europe (after the Catacombs of Paris), the two (or three) castles in Brno, the cathedral on the Petrov hill (pope Benedikt XVI. visited the cathedral in 2009), the Basilica of the Assumption of Our Lady in the Old Brno District, the St. Jacob’s Church, the Moravian Museum, Lužánky Park which is the oldest public park in the country

Here is a daily vegetable market in one of the main city square.

brnozeleniIn the city there is a rich variety of various cultural events, clubs, pubs, etc., and several excellent museums and theatres.

Also there are two interesting things about theatres in Brno, Reduta Theatre is the oldest theatre building in Central Europe, and Mahen Theatre (part of the National Theatre Brno) is the first theatre in the entire Europe which was illuminated by Thomas Edison’s electric light bulbs (in that time, it was only four years old invention).

If you like architecture then Tugendhat Villa is your place! The villa is listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Designed by Mies van der Rohe, it is seen to be a classic example of Bauhaus architecture.

One of the beauty of the city is the nature just around it, with lakes…

After a bit of walking around it’s time to try and enjoy local food…

And now let me explain with some pictures how might be a true czech life in a small town (Trebic, in Vysocina region, listed in UNESCO site). Well, surelly, stress doesn’t belong to this region, a day is spent in the small city centre and in local pub

pardubice

Here i’m visiting Pardubice, another nice czech small city, a cozy old centre with cafè, pubs, wine bars and restaurant, much cheaper than in Prague.

České Budějovice is an excellent place to visit if you want to escape the large numbers of tourists in Prague

Znojmo, Mikulov and all the south Moravia region, near the Austrian border. Lednice’s Chateau and park, nice historical city centre, wine culture.
