First year!

2 One year ago I decided to create and launch my website (budgeteurotrip.com) after have spent the previous year, travelling in Europe, mostly ‘on the road’ (Belgium, Netherlands, Hungary, Czech Rep, Serbia, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Norway, Denmark, Macedonia, Albania, italy, Ukraine…).

Since that day I’m still ‘beating’ the road, visiting european cities and enjoying the pleasure to be amazed by the beauty of this continent, every single day!

However one thing has been (and always will be) more important than a nice building, a historical church, a museum, a landscape… every person I have met (and I’m going to meet) during this life-path.

I have learnt that the majority of people are nice, happy to help, open to listen, ready to live a proper life together with other people, sharing, smiling, loving each other.

If you are like them I can only say: Obrigado, thanks, arigatou, gracias, dekuji, grazie, merci, blagodaria, hvala, multumesc, tak, danke, aciu, dziekuje, spasibo, dakujem, komawo, diakoiu…

Waltz in Wien

2013-11-18 22.11.52 To be clear, no! I didn’t dance a waltz in Wine, the title is just something i made up, I can barely move my feet in a club/disco…

Wien was another occasion to meet a friend (of a friend) and to stay with people after the italian reunion in Bratislava. In fact what I mostly enjoy about my tour is rather meeting people than sightseeing, which is of course interesting.

All the best memories I have are related to people I’ve met and Wien it will be in my good memories list.

I met David at Stephanplatz, named after the famous and beautiful cathedral

Later on we met a group of his friends and we went for couple of beers…at Austria Wien stadium 🙂

We even enter the stadium but it was dark and my last picture can’t show anything

After the viola pub and the stadium we moved to another pub for several drinks and chat, then the guys moved somewhere to celebrate a birthday and I decided to visit the city for the rest of the evening/night

The next day I had to reach Bratislava (only 1 hr train fra from Wien, return ticket costs 17€ with 1 day city public transportation included) where a flight to milano was waiting for me.

End of the tour where I had been in 4 capital cities (Wien, Bratislava, Prague and Berlin) plus other cities (Poznan, Wroclaw, Brno, Trebic, Cesky Krumlov), almost 1 month, on the road, moving around by bus, car and train, meeting interesting people and very good friends. That’s life! 😉

Here some tips about Wien:

2013-11-19 10.31.06 Best city guide, designer for real traveller and made by local youth, is this one

Hostel chain ‘Wombat’s’ is a good option where to spend the night, they have 3 hostels in good locations, atmosphere is good and friendly.

There are 21 markets with stands open daily (except Sunday), many of these have true farmers’ markets, often on Saturday mornings. Naschmarkt (pictured on the left) is however one of the most popular.

The traditional Viennese fast food is sausage in all shapes and sizes. You can buy hot sausages and hot dogs at snack bars called “Würstlstand” all over the town. The famous Wiener Würstel is known as “Frankfurter” in Vienna, but many inhabitants prefer Bosna (with onions and curry), Burenwurst, and Käsekrainer or “Eitrige” (with melted cheese inside). Vienna’s water flows through aqueducts from the mountains around 100 kilometres south. These supply Vienna with high-quality drinking water, with a considerably higher quality than many bottled waters.
